Trump Asked About Nobel Peace Prize

President Donald Trump was asked by a reporter on Wednesday, May 9, whether he deserves the Nobel Prize. He gave a humble response.

“Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it,” Trump said while holding a cabinet meeting at the White House. “I want to get it finished. The prize I want is victory for the world, not for even here.“

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said in April that Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. In early May, 18 congressmen formally nominated Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Trump administration has led a global effort to impose stricter sanctions on North Korea. Congressmen said Trump’s “Maximum Pressure” on North Korea helped to end its nuclear weapon’s program and bring peace back to the Korean Peninsula.

Trump is optimistic about the upcoming meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

“I think we have a really good shot at making it successful,” said Trump. “I want victory for the world.  Because that’s what we’re talking about. So that’s the only prize I want.”
