Actor Zoe Saldana, best known as Gamora in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise and “Avengers: Infinity War,” received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 3.
She now joins other “Guardians” stars on the Walk of Fame, including Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, and Glenn Close, as well as Marvel actors Paul Rudd, Scarlett Johansson and Samual L. Jackson.
A massive thank you to everyone who came out today and supported me at this once in a lifetime ceremony. I feel so blessed to be part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Thank you to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for honoring me with a star 💫 and allowing me to be part of history! May this open more doors for latinx and all other under represented community!
“Having a dream is just step one. Step two: sleeves up, hard work, persistence, passion, perseverance. Fail often and fail forward. If at first, you don’t succeed, you dust yourself off and you try again. I learned to love what I do and do what I love and that has been my mantra,” Saldana said at the ceremony to mark the occasion.
In 2003, Saldana starred as female pirate Anamaria in “Pirates of the Caribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” Since then, she has acted in other notable roles including Uhura in the new “Star Trek” franchise, and Neytiri in “Avatar.”
