Rapper DMX Can’t Beat the Rap, Gets 1 Year for Tax Fraud

A federal judge sentenced rapper DMX to one year in prison for failing to pay $1.7 million he owed in taxes.

Earl Simmons, aka DMX, pleaded guilty to one count of tax fraud in November 2017.

At his sentencing hearing on March 28, DMX played his 1998 hit “Slippin’” for the judge, to try to illustrate the harsh conditions under which the rapper was raised.
