Tiny apartment solves space issue with cleverly placed hidden compartments

Tiny homes have recently gained popularity among those who are looking to downsize, cut back on living costs, or want to be more mobile when it comes to where their home is located.

A typical tiny home can range anywhere from just under 100 square feet to 400 square feet. For comparison the average house is slightly over 2,000 square feet. That means with very limited storage options, you must find a way to utilize every possible inch of your home.

Tiny home owner, Christian Schallert came up with a unique solution to the space issue in his 258 square foot apartment.

Hidden compartments!

And lots of them.

Schallert had cabinets built into the wall of his apartment in order to hide away appliances, food, sports equipment, and even his toilet.

In addition to the wall of secret cabinets, the tiny home owner has a bed that pulls out from his balcony and a kitchen table that folds down from the wall.

His friends call it “LEGOs for adults” because whatever Schallert and his friends want to use they have to build it.

Want to eat lunch? You’ll need to set up the table, bring in the chair from the balcony and take the chair from the mini desk. How about a nap? That will require you to pull the bed out, lift the mattress up to retrieve the pillows and then adjust the bed into place.
